Night

One of our photography challenges this summer was to take some nighttime photos. I took these over a period of months and I think I had some good improvement in my skill.

Sunset Attempt #1

This month’s photography challenge from my photography club is sunsets. I don’t have any particular ideas/inspiration for this challenge, so this will be a little tricky.

Last night I had a few minutes spare minutes during a family outing in Denton and got my first swing at this challenge.

Lazy Dogs on a Saturday

Shelby and I are house/dog-sitting for a client during the next few weeks. They have a full-size Dachshund and a very small Maltese. Teenie, the Maltese, is one of the only dogs we’ve seen that’s even smaller than Princess. Both of them are sweet dogs, and they let me take a few photos on a lazy Saturday morning.

My Toothbrush

Shelby and I do a weekly podcast and I always create custom show art. I usually use one of my recent photos, but I already used my fireworks photos, and I haven’t taken more since.

In the episode, we talk about going to the dentist. So, that inspired me to shoot something special, just for the podcast.

P.S. I don’t usually use quite that much toothpaste.

Memorial Day at the Zoo

Today, my family went to the zoo. Weather was unusually bearable and it was a lot of fun. A few a those photos are good but most are just showing you the experience.

Fiction Challenge

Our May challenge in the Nacogdoches Photography Association was to create “fiction” in a photograph. The theme a purposefully a bit broad so we could really go in any direction we wanted.

Olivia, my little little sister, is in Lamp-Lite Theatre’s production of “Talking Pictures”, which is set in the 1930’s. I thought it would be fun to mix the past and present, so I had Olivia dress get in costume and borrowed an old-looking phone from my parents bed & breakfast and I was set.

I didn't like them in black and white or color, so I decided to go with an in-between look. Of course that could just mean they suck. 😜

Views of Sam Rayburn Reservoir

Shelby and I got to spend a few days at the house of one of her dog-sitting client’s. They live on the northwest corner of the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, near Etoile. I like to tag along when I can since it’s basically a mini-vacation (for free!)

I didn’t have any specific purpose for these photos, but I did submit end up submitting two of them to our photography club’s annual gallery show at the Cole Art Center.

Frame Within in a Frame Attempt #2

I always try to get at least two good photos that I can submit to our photography club’s monthly challenge. This weekend was my last chance to make that happen. While I did spend a long time walking around downtown, I didn’t really get as many shots as I wanted. Hopefully these will be quality over quantity.
